SimPRO reporting with Power BI

Secureshield is a leading independent provider of Fire, Security, Life Safety and Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) in the North of England and Scotland. Founded in 2020 from a management buyout, Secureshield Ltd has grown organically and through the acquisition of best-in-class product and service providers. Today, the company boasts a skilled staff of over 70 and a broad, prestigious customer base of SME and larger corporate clients across public and private sectors.

Despite their success and impressive growth, Secureshield faced challenges in its data management and reporting processes. Their primary Field Service Management software, SimPRO, had limited reporting functionality and exporting data in a CSV format was a time-consuming and costly to process that quickly became outdated. Secureshield also wanted to amalgamate data from their finance software Sage and other internal systems for a more integrated reporting solution.

With a growing need for accurate, up-to-date information to drive strategic decisions, Secureshield turned to MPowerUp for a robust, efficient solution.

The Challenge

Secureshield sought to streamline their reporting process from SimPRO and desired to integrate data from various systems seamlessly. The manual extraction process of their existing system was cumbersome and inefficient, leaving them with out-of-date data that could potentially impact their decision-making process.

The Solution

​

MPowerUp responded to Secureshield's needs by developing a custom reporting solution using Power BI. The solution leveraged the Dataflow functionality to extract data from SimPRO’s API, thus automating the previously manual process. The new reports started with a Services report, forming a solid foundation for future reports and creating a centralised dataset stored in the Power BI service, which became a single source of truth for Secureshield's data.

As the partnership between MPowerUp and Secureshield evolved, the scope of the solution grew. Building on the initial success of the Services report, the project expanded to create a comprehensive reporting suite of reports. This suite covered a wide range of Secureshield's business needs, from Customer Management and Sales, Purchasing, Projects, and Forecasting.

With MPowerUp's Power BI solution, Secureshield enhanced its data management and reporting capabilities. The time-consuming and costly manual data extraction process is now a thing of the past, and the team has access to timely, accurate data for informed strategic decision-making.
